3 Top Traits Happy People Have (and you can too)

Category: Financial Freedom
If you don’t change, nothing will change.
Anyone who gets to their 40s knows that life is not a straight line or a smooth path. In fact, you will have already navigated hard times, happiness, stress, sadness and everything in between.

While at times it feels like life can just happen to you, I find that the people who are truly happy and successful are those who are intentional in the way they live their life.

By intentional I mean 3 things:

1. Being Goal Driven.

They have set goals for the short, medium and long term in their life – both financially, physically, and in terms of how they want their life to be.

2. Willing to Self-Assess.

They constantly ask themselves if what they are doing is helping them reach their goals, rather than blindly following their ever-changing emotions and reacting to what’s happening at the time.

3. Evolving and Adapting.

They are flexible and self-aware enough to admit when their goals need to change, or if they need to adapt to unexpected circumstances.

These three traits usually set people up to be fulfilled and have the life they want. While life is not always smooth sailing, and you cannot avoid hard times, adopting these traits should set you up well for the life you were meant to live.

Too many of us sit there waiting for life to happen to us, or for a magical wave of inspiration to hit us and to change what we do and how we think. This does not work. What does work is the continual loop of action – self-assessment and adjustment.  And accepting that sometimes life sucks while trusting in the old expression – so too this shall pass – will help keep you on track.

I see a lot of unhappy, angry and frustrated people every day when I walk around the city. People whose unhappiness is very clearly etched on their face. And that’s not likely to change anytime soon until people start to think about and articulate their goals and then make a sensible plan to achieve them.

So, if you want to change your life, start by setting yourself some goals that you REALLY want to achieve. Try our free Reinvention Journal to start the process. We are all a work in progress. And if you live with intention, then you will help yourself live the wonderful life you are meant to experience.  You deserve it.

You are worth it.

Until next time,
Vanessa
